"No, I'm not... I'm needed here."

Chloe paced back and forth on the front porch of Ben's house, cell phone pressed to her ear. It had been a few months since they first confessed to one another; Chloe had moved in, and the days had mostly consisted of Ben and Chloe working during the day, playing with Max or going on dates in the evening, and then lovemaking nearly all night (save for a few days a month, of course, but even then Ben found ways to stimulate her). It hadn't helped that, on their first date out, Chloe had utilized her flexibility and gave Ben a footjob under the table. Needless to say, dinner got interrupted by a trip to the bathroom for a quickie.

Now, Christmas was approaching, and she was getting an earful from her mother when she said she wasn't coming home for Christmas. She wanted her first Christmas with Ben and Max; she adored them both, and she was practically part of their family already. "No, I... It's not living in sin if I say it ain't!" Chloe huffed; she rarely got upset, but her mother just had that gift. "Look, I have to go. I'm staying here. End of story." With that she ended the call, crossing her arms under her chest and huffing. She took deep breaths, wanting to calm herself down before going back inside.

Ben had left her alone to take the call, and took the time to put Max down for the night. It had been a few months since his world was flipped upside down, but in all that time he had no regrets...well almost none. He loved Chloe with all his heart, and Max had always adored her. Their time together was always the highlight of his day, and the sex life was beyond amazing.

Her father had objected a little but after a month or two he couldn't deny that Ben's intentions were honorable. However, her mother was still angry at him for stealing away her baby girl, and he couldn't blame her at all. Fraser had almost fourteen years on his lover, and while it didn't matter to them, or even to Max, he knew that her mother would never see past the age difference.

With a sigh he returned down stairs and looked out the front door window. Ben frowned when he heard her shouting, and knew it was his fault. He slowly opened the door, grabbed a coat, and stepped outside. After closing the door behind him, he quietly placed the coat around her shoulders and stood behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
